REQUESTS FROM OTHER LIBRARIES
July 16, 2025
Requests for items coming from outside Halifax may experience delays at this time, due to ongoing system issues with Canada Post's Library Shipping Tool.
This message will be removed once there has been confirmation that this issue has been fully resolved.
Searching our catalogue will show you what is available in consortium at large, but you can also limit your search to items at King's Library by using Novanet's "Advanced Search" features.
For more information about the consortium, please visit www.novanet.ca.
Requesting a title that is available in the King's Library will place that item on hold for you.
Requesting a title that is available in another library in the Novanet consortium sends it to the King's Library for you. Depending on where the item is coming from, this usually takes approximately 3-5 business days, but please be prepared for longer processing times during exam seasons.
If the title is not currently available within Novanet, the request will automatically move to the Interlibrary Loans department to be sourced from the closest available library. This will take up to 2 weeks to arrive. (This level of service is only available to current King's Students, Staff and Faculty.)
You will receive a confirmation email when your item is ready to be picked up.
Selecting "Request Chapter or Article" in the catalogue will allow you to request a scan of a single chapter or single article from a physical item held by King's or a Dalhousie Library.
If the title does not show the "Request Chapter or Article" you can select "Request From Other Libraries" and check the box for "I only need a specific chapter or pages." Fill out the fields as required, and submit the request.
Your scan will be emailed to you when finished. Expected turnaround for this service is 1-2 business days.
