There are many methods available to properly cite the resources you use, but the only one that is important to a paper is the one that will be accepted by your professor.

Always make sure you check the citation requirements for your course or paper before doing the work, and ask your professor for clarification when needed.

There are a variety of resources available to you that will assist you with organizing your references and ensuring your citations are correct. Here are a few listed below:

Avoiding Plagiarism

The reason citation is required is because it allows those reading your paper to verify the information provided, gives others somewhere to start to find more information on the topic, and gives professors an opportunity to see that the research requirements have been fulfilled.

Most importantly, it shows that you aren't trying to pass of the words and ideas of others as your own.

When sources aren't properly cited, it can lead to confusion and suspicion of plagiarism. Creating proper citation is a necessary part of maintaining academic integrity.
